Command Code alternative: a free terminal coding agent
Command Code starts at $1 a month and learns your coding style. Freebuff CLI starts at $0.
TL;DR
- Command Code (commandcode.ai) is a terminal coding agent whose pitch is that it learns your coding "taste" from what you accept, reject and edit.
- Its pricing page lists no free plan and no free trial. The cheapest plan is Go at $1 a month; Pro is $20, Max is $100 or $200.
- Command Code does list some models as free "while capacity lasts", so the cost of trying it is low but not zero.
- Freebuff CLI is free and ad-supported, with no card required:
npm install -g freebuff. - Choose Command Code if learned style matters more to you than price. Choose Freebuff if you want a capable terminal agent at $0.
Most terminal coding agents compete on models and price. Command Code competes on memory: it tries to learn how you write code and apply that on the next task. Here is how that compares with a free agent, checked against Command Code’s pricing page on 2026-10-08.
What Command Code is#
Command Code is a coding agent that runs in your terminal. Its distinguishing feature is taste-1, which learns and applies your coding taste. Its pricing page says taste is stored locally. It also says it does not train on your code.
It is credit-based. Each plan comes with a credit allowance and a rough request count, and open-source models are available on every plan. Plans also carry a processing fee on top of the listed monthly price.

| Top tiers | Pro is the top plan at $60 per month | Max 10x $100, Max 20x $200 per month |
| How usage is metered | Freebucks: one-hour model sessions, unlimited messages per session | Credits per plan, roughly 9K to 437K requests |

| Install | npm install -g freebuff | npm install; account required |
What Freebuff CLI gives you instead#
- A free tier. Free access is funded by text ads. Your daily allowance refills at midnight and does not roll over; the amount depends on your country.
- Nine specialized subagents including a file picker, a code reviewer, a browser-use agent and a deep-thinking agent.
- Planning commands.
/interview, then/plan, then implement, then/reviewtakes a vague idea to reviewed code. - A model picker. The regular picker includes MiMo 2.6 Flash (the default), GLM 5.3 Flash, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, GPT-6 Luna and others; what you see depends on your app and access level.
- The same agent on desktop. Freebuff Desktop uses it with tabs and git worktrees.
When Command Code is the better pick#
- You want an agent that adapts to your style and are willing to pay for it.
- You need an API. Command Code lists API access on every plan except Go.
- You want premium Claude models on a plan. Freebuff’s picker does not offer Claude.
When Freebuff is the better pick#
- You want to start at $0, with no card and no credit meter to watch.
- You code in the terminal and want subagents and planning commands without wiring anything up.
- You will accept text ads in exchange for the free tier. If ads are a dealbreaker, a paid plan on either tool is the answer.
