Check a Page Your Agent Built Using Freebuff Desktop's Browser

After building a site you want a quick check that the page says what it should. This example asks Freebuff Desktop to open a locally served page and report its heading, navigation and viewport tag, without editing anything.

Quick answers

Can Freebuff Desktop open a page and check it? Yes. It fetched the page's HTML with curl, opened the page in Desktop's built-in browser, and took a snapshot of it.

Does it work on localhost? Yes. The example uses a page served from your own machine.

Will it change my files? Only if you ask. The prompt says not to edit anything, and the reply confirmed no files changed.

Does the server need to be running? Yes. Serve the site first.

Serve the page

For a static site in a folder, run this in a terminal:

python3 -m http.server 8799

Ask Freebuff

Open the same folder in Freebuff Desktop, start a new chat and send:

Open http://localhost:8799/index.html and tell me what the main heading says, what the nav links are, and whether the page has a viewport meta tag. Do not edit any files.

In the chat you can see the steps Freebuff took: a curl request, a read of the page, Preview open with the address, and Preview snapshot from the built-in browser. Its answer:

Main heading: "Fresh from the oven, every morning", an h1 inside the hero header.

Nav links:
- Crumb & Co. (brand) to index.html
- Home (index.html, marked class="active")
- Menu (menu.html)
- Contact (contact.html)

Viewport meta tag: yes, <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0"> is
present in the head, so the page is set up for responsive rendering.

It added the page title, the "See the menu" button and the three featured products, and offered to check the other two pages.

Verify the result

curl -s http://localhost:8799/index.html | grep -E "viewport|<nav|<h1"

Expected: the viewport tag, the <nav> element and the <h1> appear in the HTML.

Troubleshooting

The page does not open. Make sure the server is still running and the port matches the address.

Checking exact layout. Open the page in your own browser at the widths you care about.

The answer lists links but not targets. Ask for each link and its href.
